Appoint hunter in each village to kill Nilgai,Pigs:Congress to GoG

Gandhinagar, 11 November 2014

Gujarat Congress MLA Paresh Dhanani today raised the issue of massive damage to agriculture crops due to nuisance of blue-bull and pigs in farms across the state.

Dhanani said the amount allocated by the state government to villages as monitory assistance to set up fencing against such menace is too less. Each village would need at least Rs. 1 crore to cover around total 25,000 km long borders of local farms under fencing protection.

Dhanani said the government has appointed 3,474 sarpanchs to permit killing of blue-bulls and pigs, but instead of this, the government should actually appoint one hunter per village.

In reply to Dhanani’s suggestions, Forest minister said that the government will form a committee on this issue which will also include opposition party MLAs.The committee will take suggestions from all members and look into way forward.

The Minister further said that government offers 50% assistance in prescribed limit to farmer to set up fencing. Government has appointed 3474 Sarpanchs as Vanya Prani Sanrakshak. They have power to kill blue-bull(Nilgai or Rose).
