Gujarat to set-up Transplant University, Public Health University, will introduce organ donation policy:CM

Gujarat will soon set-up a Transplant University, Public Health University and introduce an organ donation policy. This announcement was made by Chief Minister Anandiben Patel in Vadodara while opening the Vadodara Chamber of Commerce and Industries(VCCI) industrial exhibition today.
The Chief Minister said that such efforts by the government will take the healthcare system in Gujarat to the next level.
Anandiben in her speech said that the state is witnessing thousands of kidney operations. Similarly Lever too can be transplanted if received in donation. Rejoining a hand cut in accident is another medical practice. In this connection, in the month of March, the state government will move a bill in the assembly to set up a Transplant University, she further said.
The Chief Minister gave emphasize on the need to bring awareness on public health care for prevention of diseases, and said that the state government would soon set up a Public Health University.
The Chief Minister further said that though donations of organ like eye, lever and kidney take place, the state doesn’t have a policy for organ donation, and therefore there are some issues related to organ donation. In this connection, she said the state will have an organ policy. She said she has asked Health department to hand over her details on this in fortnight or so.
