Amit Shah on BJP’s success in Jharkhand and Jammu and Kashmir
December 23, 2014
New Delhi
BJP President Amit Shah today addressed a press conference at party headquarters in Delhi. He gave credit of party’s success in Jharkhand and J&K polls to Shri Modi’s leadership and efforts of party workers. He promised good government in Jharkhand. He said all options are open for BJP in J&K and party would like to see that there’s a popular government there through democratic process. Following are the highlights of Amit Shah’s opening remark/interaction with media:
-Year 2014 has been a year of excellent electoral victories for BJP. I congratulate people of both states – Jharkhand and J&K – and thank them for supporting BJP. As promised, we will give a good government in Jharkhand. It was our promise that only BJP government with clear majority can do development work in Jharkhand. Now when we have verdict, we will keep our promise and work accordingly. I heartily thank PM Modi because his six months work, the love and faith he enjoy contributed majorly to BJP’s victory in both states. Shri Modi led our campaign in both states.
-This is a positive verdict. Trust and hope attached to present government among people has continued and increased. People have selected the agenda of development.
-We have been successful in one-by-one all elections after BJP govt won Lok Sabha general elections. For the first time Maharashtra got BJP Chief Minister, for the first time Haryana got BJP Chief Minister and we grew from 4 to 40 seats. In Jharkhand, people have given clear verdict to one party for the first time. In Jammu & Kashmir we have improved our position and emerged as relevant political force.
-In 2009 assembly polls, BJP had won 18 seats in Jharkhand. We have now touched 41 mark now and thus we have gained 23 seats. Our vote share was 24% in 2009, which is now 31.3%. This is major growth that we have successfully achieved. In J&K in year 2008 polls, BJP won 11 seats, today we have lead/victory on 25 seats. This is gain of 14 seats. The matter of pleasure is that BJP has emerged as a party with highest vote share in Jammu & Kashmir. BJP has got 23.4% vote share while PDP has got 22% vote share.”
-So far as Congress is in question, it has gone down to third or fourth place in these four states. Our movement of Congress-free India is going ahead successfully.
-So called Janta Pariwar had attempted to make a challenge on Bihar line, but people of Jharkhand have not been abled to touch even double figure. Hemant Soren is trailing on one seat. Babulal Marandi has lost both seats. Congress president and RJD leader Annpurna devi has lost election.
-It’s sad that our former Chief Minister Arjun Munda has lost the election, but he is our prominent leader and we will continue to take his services.
-In Jammu & Kashmir, all options are open for BJP. We may form government, we may extend support to government, we may join government. BJP will take decision on the basis of initiatives taken by other parties.
-BJP will form government in Bihar with clear majority when elections take place.
-About Mission 44+, please wait for some more time.
-Government will take care of bills and laws necessary for development will be made on time.
