Surat
Surat Municipal Corporation(SMC) has demanded 400 acre land in Dumas beach area from the state government. The land has presence of rough bushes in 400 acre area. It belongs to forest department at present. SMC intends to develop India’s biggest theme park here in public private partnership(PPP) model. In a meeting with state Chief Minister, city Mayor and Municipal Commissioner both have given assurance that the basic purpose of the land will be kept intact if it is given to SMC. Surat has population of 47 lakh, but there are not much option for local tourism. At present, Dumas sea face development project is in progress. SMC believes that 95% land is open and available in Dumas/Sultanabad area close to Surat city, and therefore it is proper location to develop a new tourism attraction.
