Schedule of Dalai Lama’s two-day long Surat visit

Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama is on two days visit to Surat mainly to receive Santokba award. Following are the details of his visit:

1 January

-Arrival at airport at 10.00 am. Goodwill visit to Ramkrishna Export diamond factory at Vastadevdi road.

-Interaction with students at Vir Narmad University Convention hall on ‘Our future and hopes’, organized by SVNIT, Auro University and Sarvajanik Education Society.

-At 2.30 pm, he will address about 750 Tibetans on ‘Strength of Tibet’ for 30 minutes. This will be his last programme of the day.

2 January

-At 9.20 am, he will attend Santokba award programme at Sanjiv Kumar auditorium in Pal road area.

-During 11.20 to 12.00 hour, Dalai Lama will speak to local journalists.

-In a function(1.30 pm – 3.00 pm) at Taj Gateway hotel, Dalai Lama will be presented Rs. 25 lakh donation and diamond studded trophy in presence of Kanjibhai Balala(President, Saurashtra samaj and Chairman of Varachha Cooperative Bank Limited) and Arjan Dholakia(Director SRK). Dalai Lama will deliver address on ‘Ethical business’. The event will come to end at 3.00 pm. Dalai Lama will return to airport and leave the city.

-Santokba award has been previously presented to Sam Pitroda, Dr. Verges Kurien, Dr. HL Trivedi, Narayan Desai, Purnimaben Pakwasa and Dr. Swaminathan.
