After a long time here is a nationalist movie from Bollywood, and it is very well made.
The last effectively made nationalist movie I watched was Wednesday. Someone pointed out that ‘Holiday’ also was a good one in recent years. And released today is this film ‘Baby’.
The film doesn’t lose grip from start to end. Akshay Kumar(playing Ajay) is in role of a task master representing India’s top-secret counter-espionage team ‘Baby’ which works on global platform. Danny Denzongpa plays a role of Ajay’s boss Feroz. Akshay works for India and he is well aware of the fact that if in any foreign country he is caught, India is going to disown him. ‘Baby’ team members have no official records or responsibilities – except to thwart terror attacks.
The film begins with anti-terror operation in Turkey, proceeds with anti-terror operation in Nepal and ends with another anti terror operation in Saudi Arabia. The last operation offers big catch to India. All drama, action and thrill are attached mainly around these three operations and connecting dots at domestic front.
Initial scenes are dominated solely by Akshay Kumar, the middle part introduces you with beautiful Taapsee Pannu as Priya Suryavanshi. Anupam Kher enters on screen only in third and the last operation.
It’s good that seriousness of the film has not been spoiled by unnecessary songs and romantic scenes(remember Sarfarosh?) Half a song and couple of family scenes of Akshay Kumar don’t disturb film’s overall flow.
Baby, an Indian espionage action thriller is directed by Neeraj Pandey. Baby was produced under T-Series along with Crouching Tiger, Friday Filmworks and Cape of Good Films. The filming was done in Greater Noida, Nepal and Abu Dhabi.
The film is paisa vasool. Go for it and do enjoy.

More on this
-This is Akshay’s second film with Pandey after Special 26, and it isn’t a patch on the earlier outing.
-The film draws many of its plot details from real people and incidents.
-The principal villain of the film is a Hafiz Saeed-like maulana who, from his hideout on the other side of the border, plots terror strikes against India.
-To foil the proxy war, counter-terrorism operative Ajay Rajput (Akshay Kumar), one of the last surviving members of an elite team of secret agents set up after 26/11, crisscrosses the world in pursuit of the radicals.
-Weak point: The hero never evolves beyond a typical single-dimension Hindi movie protagonist. While he is an invincible man who can do anything and get away with it, the terrorists are dolts who walk blindly into the traps that he lays for them.
-Taapsee Pannu, in a de-glam avatar, plays a female undercover agent.
-That apart, Baby has quality actors like Kay Kay Menon, Anupam Kher, Danny Denzongpa and Sushant Singh.
