Gujarat Literature Festival 2015 kicks off in Ahmedabad

Gujarat Minister Saurabh Patel today inaugurated Gujarat Literature Festival’s year 2015 edition at Kanoria center for arts in Ahmedabad in presence of RIL Group President Parimal Nathwani and Wagh Bakri Group chief Piyush Desai. Well-known names of Gujarati literature world including Shri Tarak Mehta, Shri Rajendra Patel, Shri Chinu Modi among others were present on this occasion marking opening of a three-day long literature festival which is so far two-edition old.
Speaking on this occasion, Shri Parimal Nathwani stressed need for compulsory Gujarati language teaching for all students. Shri Nathwani said that in present days, even Gujarati children are not taking Gujarati subject in English medium school under influence by children from other background who study with them. Education of Gujarati language subject should be compulsory throughout schooling, and Government must take this step with immediate effect.
Speaking on this occasion Minister Shri Saurabh Patel said that this literature festival should emerge as the best literature festival in India. He said Jaipur literature festival is very famous, but it has invested years to emerge as the best. Gujarat can’t afford to become second to anyone. Literature festival here should be hold on larger scale involving authors from India and abroad and it should emerge as the best literature festival across India in fewer years. Shri Patel gave example of recently concluded Vadfest which emerged as the biggest such festival across India in its category.
