Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel today underlined the need for widening the scope of Scouts and Guides, NSS and NCC to start early character building since childhood, necessary for a healthy society and nation building.

Speaking at a function to mark the inauguration of the newly built Scout Bhavan in Ahmedabad and to launch a comprehensive complain redressal mobile application system, she called for the state government arranging scouts and guides activities in collaboration with local governments.

Mrs. Patel said that such activities also encourage children to adventure through sports and games, music, painting competitions and cultural programmes. She had advocated such activities while addressing functions on the Martyrs Day, too.

The Chief Minister on this occasion watched young scouts and guides play band and perform adventurous activities.

Ahmedabad Mayor Meenaxiben Patel and Municipal Board Chairman Jagdish Bhavsar spoke on the occasion. Those present included Ahmedabad West MP Kiritbhai Solanki, Deputy Mayor Bipinbhai Sikka, MLA Rakesh Shah and office-bearers.
