AMC shares details of Ahmedabad National Book Fair 2015

Like every year, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation will organize a national book fair at centrally air conditioned Gujarat University Convention center during 1-7 May. The idea of annual book fair in Ahmedabad was conceived by then Chief Minister and present Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi four years ago.

Municipal Commissioner of Ahmedabad D.Thara today shared the details of this year’s book fair.

Around 300 book stalls will show case and sell books.

The entire event will be treated like a literature festival. Every hall will have theme based branding. Entry corridor will have quotations of authors and artists.

‘Sahitya Saptah’ will cater daily cultural and literature related activities and events.

A big food court, free parking, free drinking water arrangement, publicity through posters, banners, hoardings, flyers and social media will be done by AMC.

The events will take place in three sections; Triveni, Gyan Ganga and Rang Rang Vadaliya.

Triveni:
Venue: Main auditorium
Time: Every day from 7.00 pm
First day: Morari Bapu’s address
Second day: Gunvant Shah’s address

Gujarati drama Akupar, Hindi poetry event, folk music event, Sugam Sangit, Hasya Durbar will be participated by Surendra Sharma, Osman Mir, Bhikhudan Gadhvi, Ankit Trivedi, Shahbuddin Rathod, Jagdish Trivedi among others.

Gyan Ganga:
Venue: Hall 1 and 3
Time: Everyday from 3.00 pm onwards

Authors including Jay Vasavada, Dr. Sharad Thakar among others will meet readers daily between 3-4 pm.

Poetry reciting, Kavi Sammelan, Mushayra etc to be held during 4.30-5.30 session. Chinu Modi, Rajendra Shukla, Rajesh Vyas, Madhav Ramanuj, Harsh Brahmbhatt, Bhagyesh Jha, Shobhit Desai, Dalpat Padhiar, Raeesh Maniar, Khalil Dhantejvi, Jalan Matri, Lok Kavi Dad, Ghanshyam Kavi, Anil Chavda, Milind Gadhvi, Bhavesh Bhatt, Usha Upadhyay, Lakshmi Dobaria, Daksha Patel, Panna Trivedi, Esha Dadawala, Chirag Tripathi, Naishadh Purani will participate in poetry reciting/reading.

Everyday during 6-7 pm, contemporary authors will talk about life and work of great authors. Shri Raghuvir Chaudhary will speak about Pannalal Patel’s work. Shobhit Desai will speak on Galib’s work. Nitin Vadgama will talk about Ramesh Parekh, VS Gadhvi on Pingalshi Lela and Raish Maniar on Gujarat’s Ghazal tradition.

Content writing workshops will take place in hall number 3. It will contain activities like drama and film script writing, blog and corporate content writing etc workshops. Any person will be able to participate in these workshops through online registration. In addition to this, book reviews, Matrubhasha Abhiyan, social media literature etc subjects will be discussed by experts.

Rang Rang Vadalia
Venue: Hall number 2
Time: Every day from 2 pm onwards

Every day for one hour, various activities will take place for children. They include puppet making, origami, best out of west, mask making, rangoli.

In second slot, Bhavai drawing competition, book selection, quiz, animation workshop, film screening, elocution competition and quiz.
