Opening of dinosaur park, Janmashtami fair in Rajkot today

The largest cultural fair of the year in Rajkot city opens today. Every year on the occasion of Janmashtami the city hosts a five-day long fair. This year it is being held during 3-7 September.

As many as 363 stalls, 54 rides, 23 ice cream stalls are part of this year’s Janmashtami fair. Cultural performances will be staged everyday by local artists. Such performance will be screened on various screens installed inside the fair ground.

While the main fair is held at Racecourse, other smaller fairs are also held at Ratanpar, Ramnathpara, Ishwariya, Greenland chokdi, 150 ft ring road etc places. 3 companies of State Reserve Police(SRP) are deployed in this connection in Rajkot.

Ahead of the opening of the fair, the city witnessed inauguration of 3.5 acre dinosaur park at Ishwariya park today morning.

Porbandar to have 6-day long Janmashtami fair from September 4. It will be inaugurated by Vaishnav acharya Vasantkumar Mahoday. Wadhvan municipality’s annual Janmashtami fair will be inaugurated by Swaminarayan Mandir Mahant Madhvendra. Janmashtami fair in Amreli has already kicked off at Forward and Nutan school. Janmashtami fair in Gondal will continue till September 9. Jamnashtami fair in Dhoraji will kick off on Friday. Una town will have Janmashtami fair at Mahakaleshwar Mahadev mandir over Janmashtami.
