Online store Amazon to increase footprint in Gujarat

     Amazon India, the largest online store in the country, today announced to increase its footprint and capacity in Gujarat.

     Addressing a press conference here Mr. Rohit Kulkarni, Senior Manager – New Initiatives, Amazon India today said that of its over one lakh sellers through out the country, around 17000 were from Gujarat. ‘We want to expand our capacity and footprint in the state where our current registered sellers come mostly from the Apparel, Home, Electronics, Wireless devices and Kitchen products segments. We have opened our second warehouse in the state and have various plans including launching of our Service Providers Network (ASPN) in other cities apart from the existing ones in Ahmedabad and Surat,’ he said.

    ‘The ASPN complements and is in addition to the company’s two other seller empowering drives Amazon Trained E commerce Specialist (ATES) and Seller University. All the three aims to empower sellers who are not online savvy or constrained by time and expertise to start or manage their online sales channel and succeed on Amazon platform,’ he said while emphasizing the need for greater enlightenment to the buyers and sellers in the country which was new to the e commerce.

    Mr. Kulkarni said that his company was also focusing on non metro cities and small and medium businesses as around half of its revenue come from these cities. He also informed that 60 percent of their Indian sellers get their business through mobile phones.

    On the occasion he also elaborated on various initiatives of the company including Easy Ship, Seller App and Global selling.
