Dhan Teras: 21 days Diwali vacation begins in schools/colleges of Gujarat

Diwali vacation has started today across the schools and colleges in Gujarat.
The vacation will be 21-day long. The new academic session will begin on 30th of November .
With this the tourist season has kicked off for outbound and domestic tourism sector.
As always the Sorath – Diu belt and Kutch district will witness heavy rush of tourists.
Post Diwali academic session is considered latter half part of academic year in Gujarat.
Contrary to other states, Gujarat celebrates Diwali for at least 10 days. The core part of Diwali festival kicks off on Dhan Teras and ends with Labh Pancham covering Diwali, Bestu Varsh and Bhai Bij.
Bestu Varsh is something unique to Gujarat.The people of Gujarat celebrate Gujarati new year on Bestu Varsh as per the Gujarati version of Vikram Samvat calendar.
