Anti Terrorist Squad(ATS) of Gujarat Police today in media briefing in Bharuch said it has arrested 7 accused involved in double murder case in which two BJP leaders were shot dead in Bharuch town of central Gujarat.

Following are the details of police briefing in Bharuch which took place at around 8.30 pm:

The case has been detected.

Initially we had no leads but through technology and human intelligence the offense was detected.

Those living in Bharuch have good foreign connections and therefore logistics arrangement are easier at this place. Those detained were not ready to reveal the details during last night. Today morning they started revealing the details after which they were arrested in the night.

Of total seven arrested, three are on way from Roorkee(Uttarakhand), one has been arrested from Mount Abu, two from Bharuch and one from Nadiad. Further investigation will be carried out by Bharuch police.

Direct firer who played main role was Joeb alias Ilyas Joheb Ziadduin Ansari. He was originally from Nadiad but had been living there for four five years. He is shooter. He was working as driver and was driving Inayat Ayyubbhai Vohra’s car.

Haider Ali Muhammad Hanif Sheikh was with Joeb. He is originally from Surat. He drove the motorcycle. He conducted reiki.

With them was one Saiyed Imran Saiyed Muhammad Qadri from Surat. He had played main role in escape of drug peddler Richard alias Jenfen from Vadodara. He was even arrested for that. He is one of conspirers. The incident happened through him as he was the one who took Supari.

One who was involved in reiki was Muhammad Mohsinkhan Pathan. He is also from Surat and friend of Imran.

There was one more Nisar Ahmed Maqsood Sheikh from Surat who was also involved in reiki.

One who suggested the name of the victim that this person is prominent BJP worker with local intervention was Yunus alias Manjra Yusufbhai Sheikh from Bharuch. He was into operation of small time gambling den in Bharuch. At present the den is not functional but he was involved in such activities nearby.

We will recover weapon as per the brief received from accused.

Inayat Ayub Vora who lives in Bharuch had contacted and arranged the execution through Rs 50 lakh supari.

Of Rs 50 lakh, the sum of Rs 5 lakh was received in this case. We are investigating the channel through which the sum reached here.

In connection with 1993-2002 alleged atrocities, Javed Dawood Tailer (Javed Chikna) who is wanted in bomb blast case had given Rs 50 lakh supari from SOuth Africa for these killings. Investigation is on in this regard. There was a conspiracy to kill Three-four prominent persons. However they have not been able to execute their target as we have caught them. Those who were to be killed shall get protection by Bharuch Police. IG Gehlot, ATS team, Ahmedabad city crime team after their day-and-night hard work have cracked this case. Weapon will be recovered soon. Bike and Swift car used in this incident of crime are recovered. Investigation is on and we are going to hand over the accused to Bharuch Police for further procedures.– DeshGujarat

BJP leaders’ murder: 7 held, Gujarat ATS says Mumbai blasts accused Chikna ordered killing

Gujarat ATS has arrested seven persons in connection with the murder of two BJP leaders in Bharuch earlier this month and claimed the contract for their killing was allegedly given by absconding 1993 Mumbai serial blasts accused Javed Chikna from South Africa, apparently to avenge subsequent riots in Mumbai and Gujarat.

“We have arrested seven persons, including two sharp shooters, for murder of BJP leaders,” Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) chief J K Bhatt told reporters at a press conference here today.

The two BJP leaders — former party president of Bharuch district and senior RSS member Shirish Bangali and general secretary of Bharatiya Janta Yuva Morcha of Bharuch district Pragnesh Mistry — were shot dead by two unidentified gunmen in Bharuch on November 2.

“Primary investigations revealed that the murders were carried out citing injustice due to the incidents that happened from 1993 (Mumbai riots) to 2002 (Gujarat riots),” Bhatt said without elaborating.

“The persons involved in the incident had three more leaders as their target,” he said refusing to give their names or that of their organisation due to security reasons.

“We will provide them (the persons on target) with adequate security,” the officer said.

“The ‘supari’ (contract) for killing two leaders was given by absconding (1993) Mumbai blasts accused Javed Chikna from South Africa. He had hired killers for Rs 50 lakhs to kills those Bharuch based leaders,” Bhatt said adding that the shooters had so far received Rs 5 lakhs.

Bhatt said the case was very difficult to solve as they had not got any initial leads in it but electronic tracking and hard ground work done by ATS SP Himanshu Shukla, his officers, Ahmedabad city crime branch officials and Bharuch district police brought results.

Those arrested include Joyeb alias Juhaib Ansari and Haider Sheikh, who were sharp shooters.

Joyeb had fired on Bengali and Mistry in Bharuch. The sharp shooters had also conducted recce of the two leaders, the officer said.

Police has also arrested two key conspirators Yunus allias Majra Sheikh and Inayat Vohra, both locals of Bharuch, as they had identified Bengali and Mistry as targets who they thought were prime BJP leaders of the district, sought help from abroad and helped the shooters execute the task.

The contract killing assignment was given by Chikna to Sayeed Kadri of Surat who has also been arrested, Bhatt said.

Two others — Mohammed Pathan and Nisar Ahmed Sheikh were arrested for helping in the crime, the ATS said.

Three arrests were made in Rourkie of Uttarakhand, one was arrested from Mount Abu of Rajasthan and others were arrested from Bharuch and Nadiad towns of Gujarat, Bhatt said.
