Amid reports of the Union Home Department giving its approval for the NIA inquiry of the sensational double murder of BJP leaders in Bharuch, a court there today allowed remand of one of its main conspirator Aabid khan and his aide Salim Ghanchi, who were nabbed by security agencies on December 2 from Sonauli at the Indo-Nepal Border, to the local crime branch till December 11.

Aabid, brother of the absconding 1993 Mumbai serial blast accused Javed Chikna, one of the main conspirators of the double murder case and Salim were produced before the court and sought their remand for further interrogation.

Earlier nine accused had been arrested in the sensational murder case for which an inquiry by the National Investigating Agency (NIA) was recommended by the Gujarat government on November 19 owing to its alleged connection with international terrorists and aides of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim. Javed, also an associate of Dawood and the main accused of Mumbai blast Tiger Memon, who is said to be living in South Africa had given the contract of the murder of the leaders through Aabid to Gujarat based killers.

The Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS), which assisted the Bharuch crime branch in cracking the mystery of the case, has claimed that the murder of the former district BJP president Shirsh Bangali (60) and BJYM district general secretary Pragnesh Mistry (34) was part of a conspiracy of Javed Chikna to eliminate Hindu leaders to avenge the alleged accesses on minority community. Javed, who is believed to be in South Africa, had paid a contract money for the killing plot. The duo was shot dead by motorcycle borne assailants in the evening of November 2 while they were sitting in the printing press premises of Mr. Bangali, also a prominent member of the RSS and former VHP man, in Shevashram road of the city.

Meanwhile sources in the state home department said that their counterpart at center has given approval for the NIA inquiry which would be conducted by a 10 member team of the agency led by a DIG rank official.

Several starling revelations have come up during the interrogation of the nabbed accused, all of whom belong to a particular community and also include the main shooter and a local rickshaw puller, who used to pass the information to the gang about the activities of the slain leader for helping in murder plot.

The Interpol has already sounded an alert for the arrest of Javed.
