Ahmedabad

Canada Chamber of Commerce delegation led by Progressive Conservative Party leader Patrick Brown today call on Gujarat Chief Minister in Gandhinagar. The delegation invited Gujarat Chief Minister to attend a Trade Show in Ontario, Canada in June 2016.

A devotee has donated 1.50 kg gold to Ambaji Mandir in north Gujarat where golden conversion of Shikhar(top part) of the temple is underway.

Morbi based Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti leader Manoj Panara and 3 face police complaint as 10 cows from Gau shala operated by them found being transported. Shiv Sena had captured them near Shanala bypass after which police complaint was filed.

Minister of State(independent charge) , Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India Shri Dharmendra Pradhan is on visit to Gujarat. He reached Ahmedabad in morning to attend the review meeting with ONGC and OPAL on their Gujarat operations at ONGC campus in Ahmedabad.

Gujarat Congress president had recently invited party president Sonia Gandhi and her son and vice president of the party Rahul Gandhi to visit Gujarat. It is understood that state Congress has taken a decision to hold Sonia Gandhi’s public rally in Mahesana in north Gujarat and Rahul Gandhi’s public rally in Jamnagar in Saurashtra. Though dates are not final, it is learnt that mother-son will address these public meetings possibly in the second week of February.

Madhupura Mercantile Cooperative Bank defaulter Ketan Parekh has been permited to visit abroad for medical treatment of his daughter b CBI Court. Parekh has been permitted to stay abroad till 30th April 2016 after depositing Rs 15 lakh deposit. Parekh has been granted similar permissions 7 times in the past. Parekh is accused of Rs 1020 crore cheating with the bank. It should be mentioned here that CBI had opposed Parekh’s plea as he is being probed for transfer fo money abroad, economic offenses in Ahmedabad and Mumbai. Charge sheet against Parekh was filed in year 2004 but due to regular absence of Parekh, charges are not framed against him, CBI argued.

Ahmedabad based HN Safal Group’s partner Dhiren Vora, his accountant and driver are allegedly attacked by Shayona Builder’s Yogesh Patel and aids as per a complaint filed in city’s Satellite police station. Vora, his accountant RK Patel and driver Ashok Patel were on way to construction site Safal Modial located next to Novatel hotel yesterday in the evening when a white color Merc car came from opposite side near Novatel hotel service road. The other car came from other side. Yogesh Patel and four others came out of the cars with baseball sticks hit the car of Vora’s Audi car. It is learnt that there’s dispute between Yogesh Patel and Dhiren Vora for a piece of land in Dudheshwar area.

Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama today while speaking to reporters at Circuit House Annexe in Ahmedabad indicated that the state government will bring change to existing system of promoting all students to upper standards irrespective of their results in final exam. Chudasama said, “due to year 2009 RTE act, all the students are promoted to higher standard upto standard 7 earlier and now upto standard 8.” He said the situation of education has been adversely affected due to the RTE rules and some students in higher standards are found incapable of even writing of reading the text. Chudasama further said, “we are seeing the effect of year 2009 RTE rules nowadays. Once the old system of pass and fail will resume, you will see the results of in upcoming four to five year period.
