Gujarat govt grants 100% entertainment tax exemption to Hindi film Neerja

The Government of Gujarat has granted 100 percent tax-free status to Hindi film Neerja produced by Fox Star Studios India Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai. The film has thus got exemption from entertainment tax.
This development took place after film maker Atul Kasbekar and father of lead actress of this film Sonam Kapoor called on Gujarat Chief Minister today in Gandhinagar.
The tax exemption has been granted by Joint Secretary, Information and Broadcasting Department, Government of Gujarat under the clause a and b of sub-section 1 of section 29 of the Gujarat Entertainment Tax Act, 1977(Gujarat 16 of 1977).
There are some conditions attached to this exemption. This tax exemption from payment of Entertainment Tax shall be availed of from the date of publication of notification. The rates of admission shall be reduced by the amount of the tax leviable. This exemption from payment of Entertainment Tax shall be availed in accordance with the provisions of the Act. In the event of breach of any of the conditions, the provisions of the Act and the Rules made thereunder, the prescribed officer shall take action under Section 30 of the Act.
