DGVCL to notify consumers on power cut, bill reading through SMS

Surat: Dakshin Gujarat Vij Company Ltd(DGVCL) is creating data bank of mobile phone numbers of its consumers in order to notify them through SMS regarding upcoming timings of power cut, latest reading of meter, last date of payment of bill etc. DGVCL has also started a 24 hour helpline and service center for single window procedures pertaining to new connection application, change of name, bill payment etc services. DGVCL has 28 lakh consumers who can also send their customer number to 97 271 55 333 through SMS in order to register their mobile number in DGVCL data bank. Consumers will need to write REG and leave space after which they will have to write 11 digit customer number and send SMS to DGVCL.
