Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Ltd(GSECL) has dropped its proposed 1600 MW Shinor power project in central Gujarat due to land acquisition related problems.
GSEC had proposed to set up 800 MW + 800 MW super critical thermal power project in two phase with an estimated investment of Rs 9,000 crore and initiated related procedures in year 2010 for it. BHEL had collected land data for land in Jamapura, Shinor, Lilod, Kukas, Kanjeta and Shimli and also collected water samples to prepare a detail project report. However 1,000 bigha land for this project couldn’t be managed due to reluctance on part of a group of local farmers.
Entire focus has been now shifted to 800 MW Dhuvaran project.
