Gujarat CM lays foundation of Rs 600 crore carpet manufacturing facility of Welspun in Kutch

Anjar (Gujarat): Welspun India Ltd, one of the world’s leading home textiles companies, today announced its foray into flooring solutions with the foundation stone laying of INR 600 crore state-of- the-art facility in Anjar, Gujarat to manufacture carpets, area rugs and carpet tiles.

The carpet facility ushers in a new chapter of Welspun’s growth story by adding flooring solutions to its current portfolio of home textile products. The facility will have an annual capacity of approximately 7 million square meters. Most of this capex will be done over next 18 months and the upcoming facility will house one of the most modern plants in the country. This new project will also strengthen Welspun’s commitment in enhancing employment opportunities in Kutch region by creating more than 7,000 direct and indirect jobs.

Chief Minister Vijay Rupani who laid the foundation stone of the plant said, “I applaud Welspun Group for reinforcing its commitment to Make in India with this new carpet project. I appreciate Welspun’s commitment to Gujarat for creating employment opportunities in the state and contributing to its overall economic development.”

He also e- inaugurated the 30 MLD waste water treatment facility of the company set up at Welspun City, Anjar. The facility will recycle and treat the waste water generated in Anjar and Gandhidham-Adipur. Welspun will reuse the water obtained after Biological treatment, Ultra Filtration & RO processes for its production activities. This will reduce the company’s dependency on the Narmada River resulting in increase of fresh water availability for the communities for domestic use.

With the inauguration of our waste water treatment plant, we are hoping to set an example for the industry by preserving a scarce resource like water for the communities around our manufacturing facilities.”
