Blood reports of 143 of those nabbed in hi-profile booze party in Vadodara found positive
December 31, 2016
Vadodara: The blood sample reports regarding consumption of liquor by those nabbed during a hi-profile booze party in a farm house near Vadodara on December 22 have arrived late last night in which 143 of the total 273 people including many women and some well known persons have reportedly been found to be positive.
However, it is still not clear whether or not the blood report of Former Chairman of the Indian Premier League (IPL), ex vice president of the BCCI and Industrialist Chirayu Amin is positive or not.
DySP K D Parmar today said that reports of 143 of 273 blood samples taken in the SSG hospital here and sent to Forensic Science Lab in Gandhinagar have been found to be positive ie as many persons had in fact consumed liquor during the party.
On being asked as to which are the ‘big names’ among them, Mr Parmar only said that the reports arrived very late and it will take some time to know the other details. It would be clear He neither confirmed nor denied that former IPL Chairman and Industrialist Chirayu Amin and 3 of his family members’ report was also found positive. Notably Amin, his wife and two of his sons’ blood samples were also sent for test. The Investigating office and LCB PI Jitendra Patel on the other hand said that he would reveal the names only after consulting his senior officers. He remained tight lipped despite several queries.
To a query the DySP said that now the women whose reports were positive would be formally arrested and later charge sheet against all will be filed in the court for further action.
Notably, the maximum punishment for consumption of liquor in Gujarat, a dry state, as per the new prohibition law is 3 years.
Police has arrested and jailed 4 people for giving the booze party prior to a marriage including the owner of the farm house and a local Industrialist Jeetendra Shah ( for whose grand daughter.s marriage the party was organized) and his son.
Amin and around 272 others including two British citizens and many known faces in the business and Industrial circles here were arrested late night of December 22 in a police raid on a booze party in Akhand farm house on the outskirts of Vadodara city, around 12 km away. The farm house owner was arrested while others including Amin and 134 women were released on bail after taking their blood samples for test regarding presence of Alcohol for further action. Around 103 bottles of liquor and 113 bottles of beer, 80 vehicles were also seized from the spot. Two British citizens were also nabbed from the spot and were found having consumed liquor. Mr. Parmar said that they were arrested and released on bail.
Even as speculations about some cover-up were doing the rounds, the DySP claimed that all the reports were computerized and there was no possibility of hiding or changing it. Meanwhile, the police is likely to convene a press conference in this regard by this evening.
