Folk singer Kirtidan terms ruckus in his Dyro in Surat as ‘not in accordance with the values taught by Hindu culture’

Surat: Noted Gujarati folk singer Kirtidan Gadhvi today termed the ‘nuisance’ and ruckus in his music event (Dyro) by alleged supporters of Patidar Ananmat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) as unfortunate and not in accordance with the values taught by ‘Hindu’ culture.

The Event was organized by a social outfit to collect fund for cow protection at Yogi Chowk in Patidar dominant Varachha area of the city on the occasion of Mahashivratri.

A group of Patidar youths, said to be supporters of PAAS, demanded that Kirtidan must sing songs and hymns of their community. They started creating ruckus soon after and hurled mattresses, pillows, footwear and water bottles in the air and towards the stage prompting the singer to leave the event mid-way. This led to the end of the Dyro abruptly.

He said that the event was meant for the fund collection for the cause of cow protection. Cow is revered by Hindus and the ruckus in the event by some youths was not in accordance with the values of our Hindu culture. ‘If we can’t give anything for the cause of cow protection, we, at least, should not exhibit such indecent behavior,’ he said.

Though local PAAS leaders distanced their outfit from the incident yet they said that the incident might be an expression of angry Patidar youths.

Interestingly, some locals said that some messages on the social media before the event had sought support from the local Patidars to ‘fail’ the event of Kirtidan, who in their view did not sing songs of Patidar community.

The Dyro which started at around 1030 hrs in the night was ended abruptly soon after owing to the ruckus.
