PM holds meeting with South Gujarat district leaders, MLAs, MPs of BJP in Surat

Surat: Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today after reaching Circuit house in Athwalines area of Surat interacted with 70 invited members of ruling Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP). The meeting took place soon after Prime Minister’s grand road-show through 12 km route from airport to Circuit house. There was one chair and mic on small stage on the first floor meeting hall of Circuit house. Allocated time for this meeting is one hour. After this meeting the PM will take night halt in Tapi room of Circuit house. This is the room where Modi used to stay even when he was Chief Minister of Gujarat. PM Modi is first Prime Minister of India who is going to take night halt in Surat. The people of Surat are very enthusiastic about this importance given to Surat city for the first time in city’s history.

According to details available at present, the PM has invited presidents and general secretaries of district units of BJP from Southern Gujarat areas (Valsad, Dang, Navsari, Surat district, Surat city, Tapi, Bharuch, Narmada), MLAs, MPs and other BJP leaders responsible for this region. Gujarat BJP incharge and Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma, joint organizational general secretary of BJP responsible for Gujarat V.Satish, Gujarat BJP organizational general secretary Bhikhubhai Dalsania, Gujarat CM, Deputy CM, State BJP president are among those present in this meeting.

Gujarat is going to witness general elections of assembly later this year. Obviously, PM is going to interact with party leaders on election preparedness and strategy. The PM may also speak about effective reach out by elected members of party and awareness about govt schemes.

Southern Gujarat has 35 assembly seats. BJP had won 28 of them in last assembly elections held in 2012. Congress had got 6 seats, while others won 1 seat. BJP won all 12 seats of Surat city in 2012. BJP had won 10 of 17 seats in tribal areas of South Gujarat region. In Bharuch district, Congress could win only one seat. Compared to 2007 elections, BJP had gained 8% rise in 2012 assembly polls in this region.
