April 21, 2017
Gandhinagar: Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) buses will not need to stop at toll plazas of the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) in Gujarat from today as they will be paying the toll digitally through the use of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology, which enables `e-tolling’ (digital payment of toll) as per which toll is deducted directly from prepaid account of vehicle user when the vehicle passes through the toll plaza. GSRTC acted on NHAIs directive to adopt the RFID technology in order to cut down fuel consumption and reduce congestion at the toll plazas.
