Vaghela leaves the post of Leader of Opposition, will resign as MLA after RS election, not to join any party

Gandhinagar: Leader of opposition Shankersinh Vaghela today announced his resignation from the post of Leader of Opposition in Gujarat Assembly. He said he is going to send his resignation to party’s national president Sonia Gandhi today. Vaghela said he will also resign from the post of Member of Legislative Assembly(MLA) after Rajya Sabha election which is scheduled to take place on August 8.
Shankersin said, ‘I free myself from any political party whether BJP or Congress or any other party and free Congress from my side.’
Shankersinh alao said, ‘I free my MLAs. They are free to decide their future as per their wish.’
Shankersinh said, ‘in the name of democracy and party discipline, handful of people want to grip me. It is better to stay in your control rather than their control.’
Shankersinh in his speech said he had met Congress party’s national president Sonia Gandhi and assured her that he would not stay in Congress party for long but at the same time he would also not join BJP.
Vaghela in his speech also said that Congress party had expelled him 24 hours ago but he was still in the party. He termed this decision as ‘Vinashkale viparit buddhi’.
