July 30, 2017
Palanpur: Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Ahmed Patel today on visit to flood-affected Banaskantha district of North Gujarat said he enjoys the support of over 44 MLAs and he is going to win Rajya Sabha election on August 8th.
Ahmed Patel said he has full trust on MLAs that they shall elect him to Rajya Sabha.
When asked to comment on Shankersinh Vaghela, Ahmed Patel said he would give his remark only on August 8.
When asked why six MLAs from severely flood-affected Banaskantha district are shifted to Eagleton resort in Bangalore when their services are needed here, Ahmed Patel said: Congress workers and leaders are active here giving their services. MLAs had started camps before they left for Bangalore. MLAs had to leave because government started hoarse trading using its agency. Our tribal MLA was abducted by Superintendent of Police.
Ahmed Patel announced Rs 1 lakh and Rs 2 lakh sums through MLA fund to affected people.
He alleged that government didn’t take necessary steps which caused damage. Sipu dam was being repaired when surplus water arrived. Rs 500 crore is not enough. The government should send survey teams. Cash doll is very small amount, the government should build houses that are destroyed by flood.
He said government will need to ensure that there’s no epidemic post flood situation.
State Congress chief Bharatsinh Solanki, former Gujarat Congress chief Siddharth Patel among others joined Ahmed Patel in this visit.
