Another ‘slap of sorts’ on the face of Akhilesh Yadav; youths of Gujarat make another regional army recruitment participation record
August 14, 2017
Jamnagar: As a slap of sorts on the face of former UP CM Akhilesh Yadav who had raised questions on the valour of servicemen from Gujarat, the youths of state have created yet another regional record with regard to rise in the participation in army recruitment rallies.
Last month in the rally organized from July 6 to 16 by one of the two recruitment offices in Gujarat, Ahmedabad office at VV Nagar in central Gujarat meant for 21 districts of North, South and Central Gujarat and adjoining Union Territory of Daman and Dadra and Nagar Haveli, an all time high record online registration for participation at 71039 was seen, which is yet a record for the whole of the state. But now an all time high record for Saurashtra and Kutch region has been made.
A statement from the defence today said that a new record from the remaining 12 districts of Saurashtra and Kutch region has now been created in this regard in the rally organized by the Jamnagar recruitment office in Bhavnagar from August 3 to 13. The Bhavnagar Rally that concluded yesterday saw a total of 32882 candidates physically appearing for selection compared to 21052 last year – a quantum jump of over 55%. The online registration for the rally was even higher at 48120.
‘Preceded recently by the Recruitment Rally at Anand that saw a record shattering number of aspirants turning up for selection in the month of July 2017, the latest edition of the Army Recruitment Rally that culminated on 13 Aug 2017 in Bhavnagar saw a new high for the Army Recruitment Office Jamnagar,’ the statement said today.
The significant upward trend in the number of aspirants from Gujarat state has been consistent over the last 3-4 years. The most glaring aspect has been the sheer consistency of the increasing numbers that shows no sign of waning in the near future too, the statement added.
Army Recruitment Rallies in Gujarat state are organised by 2 Army Recruitment Offices located in Ahmedabad and Jamnagar. Rallies are organised by these units in coordination with District Administration at the selected venue.
Incidentally, the state has seen a consistent increase in numbers recruited per rally since 2014. As per available data, the numbers that averaged around 300 per rally for Army Recruitment Office Jamnagar and around 400 per rally for Army Recruitment Office Ahmedabad till 2013-14, have seen a steady growth. The rallies conducted in the year 2016-17 by Army Recruitment Office Jamnagar saw 492 whilst the one by Army Recruitment Office Ahmedabad conducted at Himmatnagar in December 2016 saw a record shattering total of 786 selections, he said.
The State Government’s continued support and their recent steps to create awareness and prepare the youth for the rigorous selection process at these Recruitment Rallies is likely to further add to the numbers in the coming years, an official of the recruitment wing said.
