Rajkot: Even as Congress leadership is being condemned on the social media for the alleged ‘ undignified treatment’ today by party president Sonia Gandhi and her son and vice president Rahul Gandhi with visitng Gujarat MLAs, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani said that it shows the poor plight of MLA’s in the party and the way its leaders treat them.
Talking to newsmen here today after the photos of the much hyped meeting of the 43 ‘loyal’ MLAs standing in a queue in cow-shed like structure in Delhi where Mrs Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in presence of Gujarat party in-charge Ashok Gehlot and Sonia’s personal secretary Ahmed Patel met them enblock on the occasion of Patel’s birthday, Rupani said, ‘It show what was the plight of the Congress MLAs in the party. They can’t even meet their own leaders freely and in a dignified way. There was not even a dignified arrangement for them for the occasion. It shows how poor was the plight of MLAs in Congress.”
He also said that all the then Congress MLA’s who had voted for BJP candidate Balwantsinh Rajput in Rajyasabha polls would join BJP soon. On August 23 two such former Congress MLAs Dharmedrasinh Jadeja and Raghavji Patel would formally join BJP along with large number of supporters from Congress in a function in Jamnagar. He, BJP state presidnet Jeetu Vaghani and minister of state for home Pradipsinh Jadeja would also remain present on the occasion.
He said that in the coming days many more from Congress would join BJP.
