September 20, 2017
Vadodara: Generally the elections of Agriculture Produce Market Committees(APMCs) are considered small-time events, but victory of Savli APMC by BJP this week is considered historic because the party has won APMC here for the first time after independence. Big wig of local Congress units including former president of APMC Dinshabhai Patel, committee chairman Dr. Pyare saheb, district panchayat member, former director of Baroda dairy have lost the election. Stakes were too high in the election that the issue had reached Gujarat High Court over the matter of bogus license holders. Out of total 14 seats of Savli APMC, BJP won all four seats of traders, the party also won all 2 seats of cooperatives and all 8 seats of farmers.
