Ticket denied to wife and given to daughter-in-law, sulking Gujarat BJP MP writes letter to party chief Amit Shah

BJP Lok Sabha MP from tribal populated Panchmahal seat in Central Gujarat, Prabhatsinh Chauhan is sulking. Prabhatsinh had sought assembly seat ticket for his wife. Prabhatsinh had said his wife would complete tenure of Taluka Panchayat president in two months. Therefore she should be given assembly seat ticket. Prabhatsinh had threatened to file nomination as independent candidate if wife denied ticket by party. BJP however in its fifth list issued yesterday announced Prabhatsinh’s daughter in law as Kalol candidate. Prabhatsinh’s son Pravinsinh Chauhan who has been caught on several occasions in illegal liquor cases had joined BJP couple of months ago. Pravinsinh was earlier in Congress. He had been in BJP too in the past. As BJP has given ticket to Pravinsinh’s wife, father Prabhatsinh is very upset and sulking. Prabhatsinh has today written a letter to party president Amit Shah.

In this letter(roughly translated from English by DeshGujarat), Prabhatsinh said: ‘I have been elected as Sarpanch unopposed during 1975 – 2014. In 1980 in old Panchmahal(Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar) districts Congress had 13 of 22 seats. During 1980-85 I was elected on Kalol assembly seat as Congress candidate. In 1990s Madhavsinh Solanki and Amarsinh Chaudhary has dispute between them and I was not given ticket. So I formed panel of independents and got Gababhai Chauhan elected to assembly employing my own strength. In 1991 Hindu teachers were killed in Godhra Madresa riots. Then Congress government failed to nab the murderers even one and half year after the incident. I therefore resigned from Congress party.’

‘In 1992 Narenra Modi was party’s national general secretary and Shankersinh Vaghela was BJP president. I was enrolled in BJP. In 1995 I contested from Kalol assembly seat against 20 candidates. All had lost deposits and I was victorious with margin of 40,000 votes. I was loyal to party during Khajuraho chapter staying away from supporting Shankersinh. I managed to call back Pratapbhai Hirabhai, Raysinh Kokabhai and Jashwantsinh Bhabhor from Khajuraho. I spent bucks to take them to Rishikesh and Ooty and returned them to BJP.’

‘In 1997 Shankersinh dissolve the Gujarat assembly following which election arrived in 1998. In 1998 I won Kalol assembly seat with 45,000 lead and I was made MoS in Gujarat government. In 2002, I won with 54,800 lead in Kalol and I was made MoS in Narendra Modi led Gujarat government. In 2009 I won by 2,300 votes margin against Shankersinh Vaghela in Lok Sabha election. In 2014 I won against Amul dairy chairman Ramsinh Parmar on Panchmahal Lok Sabha seat by 1,72,000 lead.’

‘I hold Lok Darbar at native place Mahelol-Muvadi and on every Monday I meet the people in Godhra office. I visit Gandhiinagar secretariate every Tuesday and Wednesday. In 2007 my son Pravin was independent candidate from Kalol seat. I gave speech against him in public meeting in presence of Modi and made BJP candidate victorious. In 2012 BJP candidate was again made victorious with my cooperation. After my entry in BJP, all assembly seats, taluka panchayats, district panchayats, municipalities are won by BJP. In 2012 Pravin was enrolled into BJP by direction of Narendrabhai Modi and he was made BJP candidate on Godhra seat. He lost the election by 2800 votes.’

‘As 2017 assembly polls were near, CK Raolji felt he would not win. He inducted Pravin in Cogngress and assured him Congress ticket because if Pravin would contest against Raolji in 2017 assembly polls from Godhra, Raolji would not win. After Rajya Sabha election, Raolji joined BJP and assured Kalol ticket to Pravin and inducted him to BJP. I know Raolji very well. He is never loyal to any party. He has played role in derailing the government more than once. This is Raolji’s move to finish my political career.’

‘Locals in Ghoghamba tribal area will not allow Pravin or any other for campaign and BJP will lose 1,10,000 votes. BJP will not be able to win Kalol and Godhra assembly seats. Let me inform the party that I therefore don’t take responsibility to ensure victory on these seats. Pravin is bootlegger and his wife Sumanben Chauhan and he both have faced jail. Recently 300 boxes of liquor were caught from CK Raolji’s quorry at Udalpur village of Desar taluka. It was Pravin Chauhan’s stock. He is into liquor trade even today. There are many cases pending against Pravin at present. Party will suffer loss by fielding his wife in election. I am senior, but I have not been given place in organization.’

‘In view of the issues above, I don’t take responsibility to ensure victory of candidates in seven assembly seats in my parliament constituency area. It’s blot on my 45-year long political career. I have not been heard in this election. I have not been taken into consideration. Therefore I request to give ticket to local candidae in 127-Kalol assembly area.’
