Assault, rioting, attack on cops in police station; NCP MLA Kandhal Jadeja and aides booked in Ranavav

Porbandar: FIR has been registered by Porbandar police against Nationalist Congress Party(NCP) MLA Kandhal Jadeja in Ranavav police station of Porbandar district for the offence of rioting, assaulting and obstructing public servant. According to police Kandhal and others entered in to scuffle with police in wee hours of Thursday morning at Ranavav police station. Kandhal and 10 others including Kandhal’s brothers Karan and Kana Jadeja are booked in this connection. Kandhal and his gang was in search of Samat Mer who had worked against Kandhal in recently concluded assembly election. As they couldn’t trace Samat at his residence, they rushed to Ranavav Police station where Samat was hiding in order to protect self. Samat is president of Ranavav municipality. Kandhal and others thrashed Samat within police station building and created ruckus there. Kandhal and gang broke telephone of police station and attacked the policemen present there. Kandhal is son of ‘Godmother’ Santokben Jadeja and late mafia Sarman Munja. Kandhal has been recently reelected from Kutiyana seat of Porbandar district. He is facing number of criminal cases and has been to jail in the past. Kandhal who is close to former Chief Minister Shankersinh Vaghela had voted in favour of BJP candidate and Shankersinh’s relative Balwantsinh Rajput in Rajya Sabha election this year. District Superintendent of Police, Porbandar, Shobha Bhutda rushed at Ranavav police station following attack by Kandhal and gang. It is learnt that Kandhal and at least five of his aides are held. Complaint has been also filed against Samat Odedara, it is learnt.
