Gujarat all set to extend grand welcome to Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu today

Ahmedabad: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will arrive here tomorrow along with his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi on one-day visit which will start with 8-km road show from airport to Sabarmati Gandhi ashram. As many as 50 stages for cultural show have been set up on the route on which people from various Indian states will showcase their performing arts in traditional attires. The Indian Jewish people will be part of this welcoming ceremony.

Modi and Netanyahu will first pay visit to Mahatma Gandhi’s Sabarmati Ashram after the road show. From the Ashram, Modi and Netanyahu will fly to ‘iCreate’, an autonomous centre of excellence near Bavla town close to the city. ‘iCreate’ was formally launched in 2011 by Modi when he was the chief minister. The institution mentors budding entrepreneurs and guides them to set up start-ups. There are as many as 45 stalls showcasing startup projects at iCreate campus which is to be inaugurated during the visit. Both Prime Ministers will address the business community on this occasion.

The Israeli prime minister will also present Modi a special gift — the Gal-Mobile water desalinisation and purification jeep the two leaders rode at Israel’s Olga beach last year. The jeep is said to cost around 390,000 shekels (approximately USD 111,000). There will be a live demonstration of desalination of sea water that the two prime ministers will witness through video conferencing from the iCreate centre.

The two leaders would then fly to Sabarkantha district – based centre of excellence for agriculture for vegetables established by Isreal. They will inaugurate another centre for excellence and research facility for cultivation of dates in Kutch by remote control from Vadrad village in Sabarkantha. Both PMs will interact with around 1,000 farmers in Kutch via video conference. The centre of excellence for vegetables was set up in 2015. A pillar set up to mark India-Israel friendship will be unveiled followed by interaction with around 500 farmers who are into farming of vegetables.

Both PMs will leave the city at around 5.00 pm.
