44 held for Tuesday’s Padmaavat violence in Ahmedabad West, 105 bikes detained, RAF deployed

Ahmedabad: Four complaints are filed by police, one in Satellite police station and three in Vastrapur police station in connection of yesterday’s violence related to Rajput protests against film Padmaavat. The complaints involve section 308 of IPC which is pertaining to attempt to commit culpable homicide. One complaint in connection with torching of vehicles at Himalaya mall is under section 307 of IPC which is pertaining to attempt to murder was registered by Ahmedabad Police. In attempt to murder case, VR Patel, police sub inspector of Ghatlodia police station was attacked in response of which he had fired rounds in air.Key conspirator of Tuesday’ s violence Ahmedabad over Padmavat release identified as Pruthviraj Chauhan of Sanand. One Surendrasinh Jadeja had sought permission for candle march. He is believed to have instigated the participants of candle march. Ghanshyam Rahevar, Nikulsinh Vaghela, Aniruddhsinh Jadeja, Kiritsinh Solanki, Mahipatsinh Chauhan, Digubha Vaghela, Rajbha Vaghela are other culprits identified. Meanwhile Rapid Action Force(RAF) teams held flag march in Vastrapur area.
According to Special Commissioner KLN Rao, 44 persons(16 in Satellite police station area, 28 in Vastrapur police station area) are arrested and over 90 are identified. 105 bikes used in crime are seized.
It is learnt that those involved in yesterday’s violence were mobilized from varios towns and villages of Ahmedabad district. Whatsapp and Facebook platforms were utilized for ‘candle march’ call. After the candle march, groups divided into three and spread terror mainly outside the Himalaya mall where Big Cinema multiplex is located and also outside the Amdavad One mall where Cinepolise multiplex is located. Both multiplexes are inside the mall on the top floor. The miscreants therefore choose to attack approachable restaurants, showrooms and parked vehicles outside the mall premises.
Goons and miscreant with covered faces to evade CCTV vigil burnt number of vehicles by pouring petrol and hurling petrol bombs according to eyewitnesses. They attacked mobile phone show room and even looted some handsets. They forced shut down a restaurant. They even didn’t spare an ambulance of Little Flower hospital and broke its glasses. Number of other vehicles parked outside and near the mall were damaged.
The goons broke glasses of ATM centre of bank opposite Himalaya mall.
Top police officials while admitting that there was intelligence lapse on protests turning violent, said in future such permissions for protests will have to pass the scrutiny test. The cops have not ruled out involvement of Karni Sena inbred violence saying the probe was on. Senior home department officials said 4 companies of RAF have been deployed. Different units under Special Commissioner of Police KLN Rao have been formed to investigate the FIRs and identify rioters with video footage from CCTV cameras, media and police’s own video coverage.
As per one FIR, a meeting was held in Sanand first and later the candle march was organized in Ahmedabad West. Permission of ‘peaceful rally’ was sought from police and it was granted but later when the participants of rally went on rampage, the organizers had not behaved cordially with police but instead instigated others.
Meanwhile heavy police and RAF bandobast has been arranged outside the Vastrapur police station where those arrested for yesterday’s violence are kept. Gates of Vastrapur police station are closed.
