Ink mark in Gram panchayat elections in Gujarat to be on second finger of left hand, not first after thumb
January 27, 2018
Gandhinagar: As the mark of electoral ink applied during recently concluded assembly elections in Gujarat is still present on left hand’s forefinger in case of many voters, the State Election Commission has decided to put ink mark on the next finger of left hand for gram panchayat elections. Generally, the ink mark takes two months time to erase completely. Polling for gram panchayats in Gujarat is going to take place within two-month period after polling for assembly. Electoral ink, indelible ink, electoral stain or phosphoric ink is a semi-permanent ink or dye that is applied to the forefinger (usually) of voters during elections in order to prevent electoral fraud such as double voting.
