Surat court sends Vasant Gajera on five days remand in forged documents case
March 22, 2018
Surat: Surat Police today produced builder Vasant Gajera in local court and sought his ten-day police custody(remand). In response to police’s plea and related arguments, the court sent Gajera to five-day remand.
Details of the case:
– Complainant Vajubhai alias Vrajlal Nagjibhai Malani is resident of Katargam area.
– According to his complaint, he had purchased 18,500 square meter land in revenue survey number 280 from Subhashbhai Laljibhai Munshi in year 1990 through registered deal, document of which was produced in year 2001.
– Later Subhashbhai sold same land again in year 2002 and document was produced in name of Kantibhai Muljibhai Patel.
– Kantibhai Patel through this invalid document sold the land to Vasant Haribhai Gajera in year 2003.
– According to complainant, Vasant Gajera was aware that Kantibhai Patel had bogus documents and he was not in possession of the land, but he still purchased the land.
– Gajera produced bogus document of ownership of land on the basis of bogus documents that earlier owner Kantibhai Patel had produced.
– Surat Civil Court last year in its order confirmed that Kantibhai and Vasant Gajera’s documents of ownership of the land were forged and sub registrar office should cancel the registration in both cases.
– It was alleged that during the course of court case in 2011-2015, Gajera produced bogus evidences to claim that he was in possession of said land and he had erected boundary wall and fencing too. To prove this, he submitted bogus vouchers of various dates and bogus balance sheet that he claimed he had submitted before the Income Tax department. As bogus evidences came on record of court, a complaint was filed following which ACP RD Faldu was assigned probe.
– Probe team led by Faldu during its probe sought balance sheets from the Income Tax department for cross verification. After scrutiny, it was found that expenditure Gajera had claimed in his submission before the court for boundary wall was absent in documents submitted to the Income Tax department during said period. The cost of boundary wall Gajera had showed in vouchers was very less than the actual cost. Bills/vouchers of construction material that were produced in court had bogus BSNL landline numbers and bogus signatures.
– Gajera was arrested as bills and vouchers produced before court as evidences were found bogus. Police arrested Gajera only after gathering enough evidences.
