April 23, 2018
Surat:
The DNA samples of the mother and 11 year old daughter who were raped and murdered in Surat city some time ago has matched, Commissioner of Police Satish Sharma said today.
‘We had sent the DNA samples of the duo to FSL lab in Surat and the report arrived today showing that it has matched which means that it has now been established that the two bodies found from different parts of the city on different dates was that of mother and daughter as claimed by the police earlier while cracking the almost blind and puzzling case,’ he said.
Notably, a local court here had yesterday allowed 12 days remand (up to May 3) of the main accused of the sensational double rape-murder case, Harsh Gurjar who was nabbed from Rajasthan.
Gurjar was arrested by Ahmedabad police two days ago and was handed over to Surat police.
During primary interrogation he had accepted that he had killed the mother first and then the 11 year old daughter whose body he had thrown in Pandesara area on April 6.
With the matching of the DNAs the way forward to start a trial in special fast track court would be expedited.
Earlier a family from Andhra Pradesh had turned up claiming that the girl was their missing duaghter.
‘But the DNA samples of the AP man who claimed to be her father and the 11 year old deceased did not match,’ Sharma added.
