Surat police seeks addition of 1306 CCTV cameras to cover the gaps in vigil

Surat: It is learnt that city police commissioner has proposed installation of 1306 CCTV cameras at an estimated cost of Rs 120 crore in the city.
During the investigation into some of recent incidents of crime, the police realized, it needs to install more CCTV cameras to expand its vigil.
The city has 614 CCTV cameras at present. In addition to this, Surat Municipal Corporation is also going to hand over access of 147 CCTV cameras to city police control room.
The city police needs to cover Dindoli, Limbayat, Udhna, Sachin, Bhestan, Amroli etc areas through expanded CCTV network.
