Former Jasdan MLA Bholabhai Gohel rejoins Congress
July 03, 2018
Ahmedabad: Former Jasdan MLA Bholabhai Gohil today rejoined Congress. Bholabhai had contested and won the general election of assembly in 2012 from Jasdan seat for Congress when Jasdan strongman Kunvarji Bavalia was Lok Sabha MP. Congress had asked Bavalia to contest from Botad seat against Saurabh Patel while Bholabhai, a choice of Kunvarjibhai was selected for Jasdan seat as Congress candidate. Bholabhai however resigned from Congress after polling a vote against Congress party’s Rajya Sabha candidate Ahmed Patel in Rajya Sabha election last year. He later joined BJP. However he was denied BJP ticket to contest against then Congress candidate Kunvarji Bavalia. Bholabhai was in Gandhinagar today when Kunvarjibhai joined BJP. He decided to leave BJP and join Congress. As Kunvarjibhai, now minister in state BJP government has resigned as MLA, by-poll for Jasdan assembly seat is certain within next six months. It has to be seen whether Congress fields Bholabhai against his mentor Kunvarjibhai or chooses to field someone else.
