Rajkot: Controversial caste based outfit Rajput Karni Sena, which hogged the limelight during its protests against film Padmavat, has announced to appoint Rivaba, the wife of Star all-rounder of team India Ravindra Jadeja as the president the woman wing of its Gujarat state unit.

National president of the outfit Mahipalsinh Makwana made the announcement in presence of Rivaba during a religious event in Shastrinagar area here last night.

Talking to newsmen here today Rivaba said that she was grateful to Makrana for this appointment. ‘I have accepted the post after the consent of my family and husband,’ she said.

She said that she would appoint officer bearers of the woman units at all the taluka and district level. She also said that thought her outfit is of Kshatriya community but her services won’t be limited to any one community.

To a query about the possibility of her entry to electoral politics, she said that she could not say anything at this juncture.

Rivaba, a native of Keshod in Junagadh and an engineering graduate, had married Jadeja in April 2016 and given birth to a girl child in June last year.

After the attack on her in May last year in Jamnagar by a cop following an accident, the Karani Sena had openly came in her support.

Jadeja is a native of Jamnagar and his family lives in both Jamnagar and Rajkot where he owns a restaurant.

#Metoo is a good campaign, has empowered women folk – Rivaba

Rajkot: Wife of cricketer Ravindra Jadeja, Rivaba today supported the #Metoo campaign saying that it has given strength to the women-folk to speak up against the excesses of powerful men.

Talking to newsmen here Rivaba, an engineering graduate, said that the campaign arrived in Bollywood from Hollywood.

‘It is a good campaign in which women gather courage to speak up. It has contributed to the awareness of women. Women were speaking up against famous and powerful men who had exploited them,’ she said.

Rivaba said that now even the common woman folk would also be able to express themselves against such things.
