One dead, 6 injured as tug boat tied with Ropex ferry vessel Voyage Symphony capsizes near Dahej

Bharuch: A 55 year old crew member of a tug boat died a tragic death during an accident involving Ropex ferry service vessel Voyage Symphony’s trail run from Dahej in Bharuch district this afternoon.

PI of Dahej Marine police station R K Ladva said that the vessel’s trial runs before its upcoming inauguration by CM Vijay Rupani on October 27 were going on.

‘During one such run when the vessel was leaving Dahej jetty tug boats as usual were being used for moving it. During this time as the Ropex vessel caught some speed a tug boat named Wasila was pulled by its force and turned upside down. There were seven crew on it of whom six were rescued by the other tug boats but one Identified as Heeralal Madhavbahi Jethva also known as Heera Master aged around 55 jumped off towards the vessel side and was killed. His body is yet to be recovered,’ the PI said.

Notably the vessel would be used to ferry vehicles apart from passengers between Ghogha and Dahej.
