Waaree Clean Energy Solutions to set up specialty gases plant in Dahej, Gujarat

Mumbai: Waaree Clean Energy Solutions (WCES), a wholly owned subsidiary of Waaree Energies Limited, has announced its entry into India’s specialty gases market, with plans to establish a facility at GIDC Saykha in Dahej, Gujarat, to supply ultra-high-purity (UHP) gases and chemicals to semiconductor and solar cell manufacturers.

The company said the new pan-India business aims to become a one-stop supplier for India’s semiconductor and solar manufacturing ecosystem, including semiconductor fabs, OSAT and ATMP facilities, advanced electronics manufacturers and solar cell production lines.

WCES said high-purity process gases and chemicals are still largely imported and that developing domestic supply capabilities would help address a critical requirement for the country’s semiconductor and solar manufacturing ambitions.

“Semiconductor and solar cell manufacturing cannot scale in India without a reliable, high-purity gas and chemical supply chain alongside it,” Anuj Sharma, CEO of WCES, said. “This is a natural extension of our deep-tech manufacturing and clean energy expertise.”

WCES plans to develop its specialty gases business in phases. The initial plans include multi-purpose warehousing and storage infrastructure designed to meet semiconductor-grade safety and purity standards, a dedicated unit for purification of UHP ammonia and a phosphine-hydrogen (PH₃/H₂) mixing plant for specialised applications.

The company also plans to add UHP oxygen, while UHP hydrogen is already commercially available.

WCES plans to offer a broad portfolio of high-purity gases and chemicals, including silane, ammonia, nitrous oxide, phosphine mixtures, boron trichloride (BCl₃), trimethyl aluminium, diborane, germane/hydrogen mixtures, HBr, SF₆, nitric oxide, fluorinated gases and calibration gases.

The company will also design customised gas and chemical supply systems and nitrogen plants. Its proposed Total Gas & Chemical Management System will cover storage, delivery, safety monitoring and inventory management.

The specialty gases business builds on WCES’s existing clean-energy manufacturing capabilities, including its electrolyser stack facility. The company said the new vertical is designed to grow alongside India’s expanding semiconductor and solar cell manufacturing capacity and provide manufacturers with a domestic alternative to imported high-purity gases and chemicals.
