We don’t believe in negative politics, could have opposed statue of unity openly like Rafale deal if were to oppose it:Congress spokesperson
October 30, 2018
Ahmedabad; Congress spokesperson and former Gujarat MLA Shaktisinh Gohil has said that if Congress were to oppose the Statue of Unity project it would have done so openly as it was doing in case of Rafale deal.
”We are not for negative politics. But there should not be vote bank politics in Sardar Patel’s name. All his life he advocated for farmers but the BJP government did not bother for them. Farmers don’t get water, adequate electricity and even due payment of corp insurance in the state ,’ he said.
‘Also PM Modi had claimed that the statue would be made with the iron collected from farmers alone and not even a single penny from the government exchequer would be spent but crores of rupees from not only center and state government but also from Public Sector Undertakings was used to get the work done by China,’ Gohil said.
He alleges that the BJP which never cared for or followed the ideology of Sardar Patel who basically was a Congressman, was now doing vote bank politics in his name and statue.
Notably, PM Modi will unveil the 182 meter high statue of Sardar Patel erected on the Sadhu island in river Narmada near Kevadia tomorrow. It will become the tallest statue in the world leaving behind 153 meter high Spring Field Buddha of China.
