Population of Chausingha deer increases at Umarva breeding centre in Narmada

Statue of Unity: Narmada district of Central Gujarat has 43% forest cover. The district has emerged as a major tourist destination with completion of the Statue of Unity – the tallest statue in the world. State forest department is developing a 45 acre safari park close to Statue of Unity in order to add another tourist attraction. Proposed safari park will have animals from various states.
State forest department has developed a deer breeding centre in connection with proposed safari park. From one pair of Chaushinga deer initially in 2013, population has grown to 15 now in this breeding centre. A 20 acre area has been protected with fencing.
