Cyclonic Storm likely in Arabian sea, Heavy rain warning for Saurashtra/Kutch

Gandhinagar: Even as heat wave prevailed in parts of Gujarat today, the met department has issued heavy rain warning for Saurashtra/Kutch region for June 12 and 13 under the influence of a cyclonic storm likely to develop in the Arabian sea after 48 hours.
Surendranagar today remained hottest at 44.8 degree Celsius, Ahmedabad was at second place in this regard with 44.3 degree Celsius, more than 3 notches above normal.
Heat wave conditions prevailed at isolated pockets in AMRELI, RAJKOT, SURENDRANAGAR AND KUTCH.
Meanwhile, the met bulletin today said , “A LOW PRESSURE AREA OVER SOUTHEAST ARABIAN SEA AND ADJOINING LAKSHADWEEP AREA & EASTCENTRAL ARABIAN SEA WITH ASSOCIATED CYCLONIC CIRCULATION EXTENDING UPTO MIDTROPOSPHERIC LEVELS PERSISTS. IT IS VERY LIKELY TO CONCENTRATE INTO A DEPRESSION DURING NEXT 48 HOURS OVER SOUTHEAST & ADJOINING EASTCENTRAL ARABIAN SEA. IT IS VERY LIKELY TO MOVE NORTHNORTHWESTWARDS AND INTENSIFY FURTHER INTO A CYCLONIC STORM SUBSEQUENTLY.WESTERLY TO NORTHWESTERLY WINDS ARE PREVAILING AT LOWER LEVELS OVER THE REGION.”

STATE FORECAST:-
NO LARGE CHANGE IN MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE VERY LIKELY OVER SOUTH GUJARAT REGION, KUTCH, DIU, DAMAN, DADARA NAGAR HAVELI AND IN SOME PARTS OF SAURASHTRA DURING NEXT 48 HOURS.
It has also predicted that light to moderate rain/thundershowers very likely at isolated places in the districts of South Gujarat region namely Surat, Valsad, Navsari and in Daman, Dadra Nagar Haveli; in the districts of Saurashtra-Kutch namely Bhavnagar, Amreli, Gir Somnath, Junagadh, Rajkot and Diu. Dry weather very likely in all the districts of North Gujarat region and Kutch, remaining districts of South Gujarat region, Saurashtra on June 11.
On June 12, it said there will be light to moderate rain/thundershowers very likely at a few places in the districts of Gujarat region namely Anand, Baroda, Bharuch, Surat, Valsad, Navsari and in Daman, Dadra Nagar Haveli; in the districts of Saurashtra-Kutch namely Bhavnagar, Amreli, Gir Somnath, Junagadh, Porbandar, Dwarka, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Kutch and in Diu. Dry weather very likely in the remaining districts of Gujarat region and Saurashtra.
For June 13 the bulletin said that light to moderate rain/thundershowers very likely at a few places in the districts of Saurashtra-Kutch namely Bhavnagar, Amreli, Gir Somnath, Junagadh, Porbandar, Dwarka, Jamnagar, Morbid, Rajkot, Kutch and in Diu; at isolated places in the districts of Gujarat region namely Navsari, Surat, Bharuch and Anand;. Dry weather very likely in the remaining districts of Gujarat region, Daman, Dadra Nagar Haveli and Saurashtra.
Apart from that the bulletin has also issued heavy rain warning as follows –
June 12: Heavy rainfall very likely at isolated places in the districts of Saurashtra namely, Porbandar and Dwarka.
June 13: Heavy rainfall very likely at isolated places in the districts of Saurashtra-Kutch namely, Dwarka and Kutch.
