Nithyanad Ashram case – Two arrested Sadhvis including the local care-taker finally granted bail

Ahmedabad:A local court here today granted bail to the two Sadhvis associated with the Ashram of controversial self styled god-man Swami Nithyanand including its local care-taker and young Sadhvi Pranpriya who were arrested over two and a half months ago in the sensational case pertaining to alleged kidnapping and ill-treatment with two minor children of a former disciple.
Pranpriya and her aide Priyatatva were arrested by police on November 20 morning.
The court granted them conditional bail with various riders including to remain present before the Investigating officer whenever required and to deposit their passports.
The court had earlier on November 27 rejected their interim bail plea and on December 13 rejected regular bail plea. It had then observed that they were accused of serious crime and so regular bail could not be granted at that juncture.
The duo were arrested in the case filed by Tamilnadu based former disciple of Nithyanad, Janardan Sharma. He had alleged that the Ashram of Nithyanad in Hathijan area here had abducted his two minor children and ill treated them.He had also moved high court for the physical production of his two young and major daughters, the eldest Lopa Mudra (21) who had gone abroad from Bengaluru Ashram while the other Nityanadita (19) who had disappeared mysteriously and fled abroad from here. They had over several video call messages expressed their unwillingness to join there parents. However the younger two children his 14 year old third daughter and 12 year old son were handed over to him and on the basis of their statement the police had lodged the case in which Pranpirya and Priyatatwa were arrested.
On November 1 last year, Sharma, had approached the police claiming that the Nithyanand ashram and the school run by it on the DPS East leased space had forcefully kept four of his children including the three daughters. He later approached the court too. His second daughter Nityanadita dodged the police to escape most likely abroad via Nepal from here.The whole episode took a nasty turn with the two young daughters addressing the media over video calls and dressed in saffron robes yet wearing designer ear-rings, made very serious allegations against their own parents. The eldest one had alleged that her father had done embezzlement of a huge some of Ashram money. They youngest one claimed that her mother Bhuwaneshwari was in to an illicit relationship with another man.
