Ahmedabad: US President Donald Trump wrote a brief note in the visitors book of Mahatma Gandhi’s historic Sabarmati Ashram here in which he thanked PM Narendra Modi terming him as a great friend.

Trump wrote, ‘To my great friend Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Thanks for this wonderful visit.’

His wife Melania also put her signature along with him below it.

PM Modi was also present on the occasion and had played a host and guide of sorts for the first couple during the visit of the Ashram situated on the western banks of river Sabarmati here where Mahatma Gandhi had spent over one and a half decade during India freedom struggle post his return from South Africa.
