Covid19 beds at SVP hospital increase to 1,000; Fern Hotel option for Covid patients who can pay

Ahmedabad: AMC (Amdavad Municipal Corporation) Commissioner Vijay Nehra today in his daily online briefing announced increase in AMC run SVP (Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel) hospital’s capacity to treat Covid19 patients.

Nehra said SVP had 50 bed facility initially for Covid19 patients, later it was expanded to 200 bed and at present there are 500 bed for Covid19 patients, 400 of them occupied.

It has been decided last evening that from today, SVP will increase its capacity to 1,000 Covid19 patients.

‘With this, majority of patients will be taken to SVP so that burden on Civil hospital can be reduced and treatment can be offered at both places smoothly.’

Nehra also announced that AMC had taken over a five-star Fern hotel in the city.

‘Covid19 patients who can pay for, can choose to stay at Fern hotel instead of Covid Care Centre at Samras hostel. AMC has signed MoU with the hotel. Rates for patients will be highly discounted and affordable, compared to regular hotel room rate,’ he said adding that Haj House in Kalupur area will also have a Covid Care Centre facility from tomorrow.
