Ahmedabad: Amul Bhatt, chairman of Standing Committee in Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) today said that no decision has been taken to operate VS hospital as Covid hospital.
Bhatt in reply to media query said, there’s some misunderstanding regarding reopening of VS hospital. Yesterday Mayor had also clarified the issue in her tweet. VS hospital was never shut. OPD has been functional during the entire period of Covid-19 pandemic. So there’s no question of reopening the hospital, as it was open only. No decision has been taken however regarding running Covid hospital in VS. Such decisions are taken by the State government and we will follow the State government instructions
Bhatt said, an issue of mandatory requirement of Aadhar card for Covid-19 testing came to discussion during Standing Committee meeting, however the Central government app has provisioned that requirement for Covid test and therefore AMC is unable to allow any alternative.
Regarding the online information system on status of availability/occupancy of beds in Covid hospitals, Bhatt said the website is ready and AMC is in discussion with Ahmedabad Medical Association (AMA) and Ahmedabad Hospitals Association (AHNA) and app will be in place in couple of days.
