Schedule of reservation in the office of Mayor for 6 poll-bound Municipal Corporations in Gujarat declared

Gandhinagar: As per the Bombay Provincial Municipal Corporations (Reservation in the office of the Mayor) Amendment Rules, 2021, the city of Ahmedabad will get next Mayor from Scheduled Caste (SC) councilors for first two and half years. The city will get woman mayor in the second two and half years period.
The city of Surat will get woman Mayor for first two and half years and a Mayor from general category in the next two and half years.
Vadodara Municipal Corporation will have a Mayor from general category in the first two and half years and woman Mayor in the next two and half years.
Rajkot will get Backward Class (BC) Mayor in first two and half years and a woman mayor after that for same period.
Bhavnagar will have woman mayor for first two and half years followed by a Backward Class (BC) Mayor for same period after that.
Jamnagar Municipal Corporation will have woman as Mayor for first two and half years and Scheduled Caste(SC) Mayor after that.
Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot, Bhavnagar and Jamnagar Municipal Corporations are going for polling on 21st of February and the results are to be declared on the 23rd February. The Mayors are to be elected by the elected councilors of the said Corporations after election and at the first meeting of the concerned body.
