Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation Election 2021 announced

Gandhinagar: Regular election of Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation (GMC) has been announced by the State Election Commission of Gujarat in a media briefing today. Polling for GMC election will take place on 18 April. Counting will take place on 20th April. Poll-bound civic body has 11 wards, consisting 44 seats.
The local body of State capital is at present ruled by Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP). The election is due as current five-year term of elected body is coming to end. BJP had early this week announced three incharges of party for GMC election.
Ahead of the announcement of election, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani through video conference inaugurated/performed ground breaking for Rs. 395 development works in the capital town including the works for solid waste collection, asphalt road, resurfacing, CC road construction, gate entry at 6 entry point of the town, two underpasses, drainage water works, new building of municipal corporation, new vehicle bridge works, 30 meter tall flag pole work at Ch0 circle etc.
The Chief Minister spoke about 24×7 water, metro rail, reuse of treated water, green clean transportation and digital services for making of smart-sustainable cities. He said Gandhinagar has been gifted the development works worth Rs. 686 crore in last one year during Covid19 pandemic period.
