CBI arrest two Medical Device Officers of CDSO in Gujarat in bribery case

Ahmedabad: Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested two medical device officers of Central Drug Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) in Ahmedabad in a bribery case of Rs. 3.50 lakh and recovered over Rs. 25 lakh approximately cash during related searches. A case has been registered against the accused.
It was alleged that the accused demanded undue advantage of Rs.3.50 lakh from the complainant (who is into manufacturing of orthopedic implants) for showing him favor. It was further alleged that the inspection of Complainant’s unit was done in respect of issue of a medical device manufacturing license (MD-9) by the accused and his colleague, also a Medical Device Officer.
CBI laid a trap and caught the accused while accepting the said bribe. Searches were conducted at the premises of both accused. A cash of Rs.13.90 lakh (approx) & some documents were recovered from the premises of accused and a cash of Rs. 11.40 lakh(approx) was recovered from the premises of his Colleague(also, a Medical Device Officer).
Both the arrested accused are being produced today before the Competent Court at Ahmedabad. DeshGujarat
